Woman Mauled by Dogs Left in Critical Condition
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Two pit bulls badly injured a woman early Friday before a police officer shot and killed one of the animals, authorities said.
Angelina Wilkins, 42, was hospitalized in critical condition with bites to her neck, chest and legs, Officer Martha Garcia said.
Wilkins was walking on a South Los Angeles sidewalk about 3:30 a.m. when the dogs attacked her, Garcia said.
Four people tried to help. One man was bitten on the leg and treated by paramedics.
