From Times Staff and Wire Reports
An Irvine man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison Friday for slaying a former Newport Harbor High School wrestler who was his son’s drug-dealing partner.
Tommy Lee McGuire, 62, convicted in February of killing Matthew Large, 22, with a meat cleaver, was sentenced in Orange County Superior Court.
Large disappeared in December 2001 after visiting McGuire’s Irvine apartment. Prosecutors said his body was buried in Northern California near Humboldt Bay.
