New Neil Young song protests war

Joining an escalating pop music outcry against the Bush administration’s wartime policies, Neil Young has recorded a new album, “Living With War,” that reportedly includes a song called “Impeach the President.”

In a ticker-tape message on his website, neilyoung.com, Young describes the title track as “Metal folk protest” music -- a new treatment of ‘60s folk protest songs by Bob Dylan and Phil Ochs. Sample lyrics: “On the flat-screen, we kill and we’re killed again.... And when night falls, I pray for peace.”

Young’s CD does not have a release date, according to Warner Bros. Records.

The Dixie Chicks, Pearl Jam and Paul Simon have also recently recorded songs that, respectively, skewer the president, criticize American involvement in Iraq and plead for an end to war.
