Suspected Militants Kill 7 Soldiers
Suspected militants opened fire today on Pakistani security forces in a northwestern tribal region near the Afghan border, killing seven soldiers and wounding 22, an army spokesman said.
The attack took place on the outskirts of Miram Shah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal region, spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan said.
North Waziristan and nearby tribal areas have been the scene of scores of military operations against remnants of the Taliban, Osama bin Laden’s Al Qaeda network and their local supporters.
