20 of 25 Nominees for Cabinet Win Approval
From Times Wire Reports
Lawmakers approved 20 of U.S.-backed President Hamid Karzai’s 25 candidates for Afghanistan’s new Cabinet, including his choices for foreign and interior ministers.
But five of Karzai’s nominees, including the incumbent information and economy ministers and the sole female candidate, were rejected.
The president will nominate new candidates for the remaining ministries and then hold a fresh vote. No date has been set.
