Lack of shopping is the least of LAX’s problems

Re “LAX, terminally dreadful,” Opinion, April 17
Chris Ayres needs to get out of airports a little more often. LAX has many problems that make the passenger experience awful, and lack of shopping opportunities is the least of them. LAX compares unfavorably with other airports because of the horrendous traffic in the central terminal loop, the interminable security checkpoint lines, the lack of an easy way to get around from terminal to terminal, the lack of an easy connection to public transportation, rental car centers and ground transportation scattered all over the airport instead of in one convenient location, and poorly maintained terminal public spaces, including dirty bathrooms.
I don’t want better shopping when I go to LAX; I want to get through the airport and on my way as quickly as possible. We need a world-class airport, not a mall with airplanes.
