Five people were injured, one of them a firefighter, in a blaze at an apartment complex Saturday, authorities said.

Three of the injured jumped from a third-story window to escape the flames.

The firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, and the jumpers were taken to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries, said Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A man on the second floor, where the 2:33 a.m. fire burned through two units, suffered minor smoke inhalation.
