USC All-American receiver Dwayne Jarrett is not worried about the NCAA’s pending decision regarding his eligibility.

“I can’t control what’s happening, so it’s the last thing on my mind,” Jarrett said Wednesday morning, shortly before checking in for training camp. “I’m just looking forward to getting out on the field with my teammates.”

In June, the NCAA ruled Jarrett ineligible for receiving an “extra benefit” last season. Jarrett shared an expensive downtown apartment with former quarterback Matt Leinart, the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner. According to Leinart’s father, Bob, his son and Jarrett each paid $650 a month, and he paid the balance of the $3,866-a-month lease.

On Wednesday, Jarrett confirmed the amount he paid.

“I didn’t think it was a problem because I was paying rent, it’s not like I was living there for free,” said Jarrett, who can practice with the Trojans while awaiting the NCAA’s decision.

Coach Pete Carroll has said that he did not think Jarrett would miss any games.

Jarrett said he had not been informed about conditions he might have to meet to be reinstated.
