5 Killed, 4 Injured in Attack at Newspaper
Gunmen with automatic weapons stormed Guyana’s largest newspaper, killing five people and wounding four.
About 10 gunmen attacked before midnight Tuesday, ordering employees in the printing department of the Kaieteur News to lie on the floor before shooting them, acting Police Chief Henry Greene said.
The motive was unclear and no one had been arrested, police said. Investigators suspect a gang that forced its way into the home of Agriculture Minister Satyadeow Sawh in April, killing him and two siblings. No arrests have been made in that attack.
