The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq or who died at a military hospital of their injuries:

Bradley H. Beste, 22, of Naperville, Ill.; sergeant, Army. Beste was one of two soldiers killed Aug. 4 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division in Friedberg, Germany.

Jeffery S. Brown, 25, of Trinity Center, Calif.; sergeant, Army. Brown was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed into a lake on a routine flight near Korean Village in Rutbah, west of Baghdad. Military officials said the crash was not a result of hostile fire. Brown’s body was recovered Thursday. He was assigned to the 82nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance) at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Carlton A. Clark, 22, of South Royalton, Vt.; sergeant, Army. Clark was among three soldiers killed Aug. 6 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Troop Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Brian J. Kubik, 20, of Harker Heights, Texas; private first class, Army. Kubik died Aug. 5 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany of injuries suffered Aug. 2 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Jeremy Z. Long, 18, of Sun Valley, Nev.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Long was killed in combat Thursday in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Tracy L. Melvin, 31, of Seattle; staff sergeant, Army. Melvin was killed Aug. 6 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany.

Steven P. Mennemeyer, 26, of Granite City, Ill.; sergeant, Army. Mennemeyer was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed into a lake on a routine flight near Korean Village in Rutbah, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Troop Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Leroy Segura Jr., 23, of Clovis, N.M.; sergeant, Army. Segura was killed Aug. 4 when his Humvee overturned in Habbaniya, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 362nd Engineer Company, 54th Engineer Battalion at Ft. Benning, Ga.

Clint J. Storey, 30, of Enid, Okla.; staff sergeant, Army. Storey was one of two soldiers killed Aug. 4 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division in Friedberg, Germany.

Jose Zamora, 24, of Sunland Park, N.M.; specialist, Army. Zamora was among three soldiers killed Aug. 6 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Troop Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Ft. Campbell, Ky.
