From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Alan Schlesinger said he was told long before Aug. 8 -- when Sen. Joe Lieberman lost the Democratic primary to Ned Lamont -- not to count on support from the national GOP unless he could show he had a shot to win. “Since the primary, nothing’s changed,” he said.

A poll last week showed Schlesinger with 4% of the vote; Lieberman, who is now running as an independent, with 53%; and Lamont with 41%.
