Suspect Arrested in Theft of Grave Markers, Vases
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of stealing bronze vases and grave markers from local cemeteries and selling them for scrap metal.
Jack David Prell, 52, was charged with destroying or removing cemetery property, grand theft and two counts of receiving known stolen property, police said. He is being held on $940,000 bail.
Dozens of bronze vases and grave markers were found at a recycling center near downtown San Diego after police received a tip over the weekend.
Police said they found receipts at Prell’s home indicating he sold bronze to the center.
