“AMERICAN Idol” isn’t the only reality TV show to spawn hit records. Danity Kane, the vocal quintet whose debut album entered the national sales chart at No. 1 Wednesday, is the product of MTV’s “Making the Band 3,” in which Sean “Diddy” Combs selected the lineup from hundreds of contestants. Combs’ Bad Boy label released the self-titled album, which sold 234,300 copies in its first week in stores, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Six other new releases joined Danity Kane in the Top 10. OutKast’s “Idlewild” came in at No. 2 with sales of 196,100, while Mexican rock band Mana finished at No. 4 after selling 86,700 copies of “Amar Es Combatir.”

Paris Hilton’s high-profile debut album, “Paris,” sold 76,900 copies to enter the chart at No. 6, while Lamb of God’s “Sacrament” (63,000), “The Ultimate Luther Vandross” (59,000) and Kelis’ “Kelis Was Here” (58,000) ranked No. 8 through 10, respectively.
