Former Bosnian Serb general Stanislav Galic lost his appeal to a war crimes tribunal in The Hague and his prison term was extended to life for his role in the siege of Sarajevo during the 1992-95 Bosnia war.

The sentence was lengthened from 20 years on an appeal by prosecutors.

Serb forces killed 10,500 people in the 44-month siege of the Bosnian capital.
