Hours-old baby boy discovered in bushes
Authorities were searching Saturday for the mother of a newborn who was found in some bushes Friday night.
Using bloodhounds, deputies combed the area around Santa Gertrudes Avenue near Santa Cruz Street where the boy was discovered about 10:45 p.m. by a woman who lives nearby, authorities said.
The child, wrapped in a blanket with his umbilical cord still attached, was believed to be only a few hours old, police said.
The baby was recovering from hypothermia at a hospital Saturday and was expected to survive, police said.
