Alone again means she’s new again

The surprise name among the new artist nominees belongs to a brandy-voiced Brit who’s really no newcomer. Imogen Heap, who works that mix of electronica and art rock that European chanteuses love, released her debut in 1998. Next she formed Frou Frou with producer Guy Sigsworth; one of their songs, “Let Go,” appeared on the influential “Garden State” soundtrack. Heap then went solo again. Best multimedia moment: her version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” played while Marissa died in Ryan’s arms on “The O.C.”
