Rates on 30-year mortgages slip to 6.11%

Rates on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.11% this week, down from 6.14% last week and the lowest since January, mortgage company Freddie Mac said.

Rates on 15-year, fixed-rate mortgages, a popular choice for refinancing, averaged 5.84%, down from 5.87% last week. For one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, rates fell to 5.43%, down from 5.46% last week. Five-year adjustable-rate mortgages dropped to 5.92%, compared with 5.95% last week.

The mortgage rates do not include add-on fees known as points. Thirty-year, 15-year and five-year mortgages each carried a nationwide average fee of 0.5 point. One-year mortgages carried a fee of 0.7 point.
