Army is deployed ahead of elections

President Iajuddin Ahmed ordered deployment of the army across the country to ensure peaceful elections next month. More than 40 people have been killed and hundreds injured in clashes between rival political activists since late October, when Khaleda Zia, leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, ended her five-year tenure as prime minister.
