A recovering Kimberly Dozier, the CBS News reporter seriously wounded by a car bomb in Iraq on May 29, expressed gratitude this week to the U.S. military personnel who saved her life.

Dozier, still undergoing therapy in New Zealand to repair legs shattered by shrapnel, posted a story about her recovery, “Emerging From a Nightmare,” on the CBS News website.

“The U.S. military treated me as one of its own, saving my life a few times over, with the best people, the best training and the best equipment,” she wrote.
