Team tries to work out its road troubles
The Clippers expected to take a step forward this season, so things have been disappointing for them to this point.
They’re eager to return to .500 before the All-Star break, and players said they could turn a corner on a six-game, 10-day Eastern trip that begins next week.
The Clippers are 2-10 on the road, but they’re still confident in their ability to win away from Staples Center.
“When we do the things that we’re capable of doing, when we share the basketball and play smart, we’ve shown what type of team we can be,” Cuttino Mobley said. “It’s not that hard, it’s really simple.
“It’s just the approach you take to the game and what you do to try to get better. Everything bad that happens to you, you should try to take it and learn from it, and that’s what we have to do when we get out on the road.”
The Clippers’ two road victories came against the lowly Memphis Grizzlies and injury-weakened Houston Rockets. Tracy McGrady sat out the game and Yao Ming suffered a first-quarter leg injury.
On the upcoming trip, the Clippers face Orlando, Miami, Washington, Atlanta, New Orleans and Minnesota.
“We’re definitely capable of having a good trip, we’re definitely capable of playing teams tough and winning,” Elton Brand said. “It’s not like we haven’t shown we can go out and win on the road.
“We haven’t done it this season, we know that, but we just have to keep working hard, running the sets right and playing together. We do that, we should be OK.”
