Truth, not slogans
Re “Bush, advisors gather to review Iraq strategy as press aide rebukes Biden,” Dec. 28
The latest slogan from the Bush administration in its long history of deceiving Americans reads like a charm: “the new way forward in Iraq.” Other crafty zingers include “Operation Iraqi Freedom,” “the terrorist surveillance program” and “mission accomplished.” These slogans would make any advertising executive proud, as they have conned an unsuspecting public into buying a lot of bunk. But no amount of spin can continue to mask the deception that has put this great country in the trouble it now faces. We will survive as a nation by facing the truth.
