The Iraq money pit
Tucked away in a Jan. 31 blurb (“KBR Makes Concession in Alleged Overcharges”) is a story of how our money is being spent for Iraq. The waste is beyond belief. The Pentagon agreed to accept a $9-million settlement for an audit that questioned $208 million in Iraq billing from KBR, a Halliburton subsidiary. That is 4.3%. This is a great deal for Halliburton. They must have powerful friends in high places -- or another coincidence?
