IBM Agrees to Acquire Irvine-Based Viacore

IBM Corp. agreed to buy closely held Viacore Inc. of Irvine to add products that help customers manage inventories and production.

Founded in 1999, Viacore sells software and services to customers including Cisco Systems Inc. and Qualcomm Inc.

Viacore is the latest in a series of acquisitions made by Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM over the last four years to expand sales of computer services that help companies with forecasting, production and parts delivery.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. IBM shares rose $1.15 to $80.80.
