A Yorba Linda man has become the sixth person to plead guilty in connection with a fraudulent tax return mill, federal officials said this week.

In a plea agreement, Samuel Joseph DeAngelo said he directed his employees at Western Tax Service in Anaheim to inflate charitable contribution deductions on behalf of tax clients. Employees also claimed false deductions for business expenses and depreciation on behalf of about 8,000 clients, said Assistant U.S. Atty. Douglas F. McCormick. He said Western profited by inflating its fees by $300 to $2,000 per return.

DeAngelo entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana on Friday. He is expected to be sentenced in August.
