ABC journalists recuperating

The two ABC newsmen injured last week in a roadside explosion in Iraq are continuing to slowly recuperate, ABC News President David Westin said Wednesday.

Anchor Bob Woodruff and cameraman Doug Vogt both sustained head wounds and other injuries when the Iraqi vehicle they were riding in was hit by an improvised explosive device on Jan. 29. Vogt’s injuries are less serious, however, and Tuesday he was transferred to an outpatient facility on the grounds of the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., where he is scheduled to undergo treatment in the coming weeks.

Woodruff remains under sedation in the medical center. But Westin said doctors had lowered the levels of his sedation from time to time and were pleased with his responses.
