Landlord Is Ordered to Live in Her Building
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A court commissioner has sentenced Los Angeles landlord Maria Chariez to live in one of her apartment buildings for 45 days after finding she had repeatedly failed to make repairs to bring two buildings up to code, the city attorney said Friday.
She also was told to fix all habitability problems in the buildings on Clarence and South Figueroa streets and to pay $4,000 in legal costs.
Violations included leaking plumbing and rodent infestations.
