The 10 finalists for the 2005 Sullivan Award are listed below. The award, given annually to the nation’s top amateur athlete, will be announced April 12 in New York. It is named after James E. Sullivan, founder of the Amateur Athletic Union, which is based in Orlando, Fla. The last five winners have been Olympians. Paul Hamm, the gold-medal winning gymnast in Athens, won the 2004 award.
