The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Joseph J. Andres Jr., 34, of Seven Hills, Ohio; master sergeant, Army. Andres died Dec. 24 in Balad, Iraq, of injuries suffered that day when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Baqubah, Iraq, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the Army Special Operations Command at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Benjamin T. Britt, 24, of Wheeler, Texas; first lieutenant, Army. Britt was one of two soldiers killed Dec. 22 when an improvised explosive device detonated near them while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Anthony O. Cardinal, 20, of Muskegon, Mich.; specialist, Army. Cardinal was killed Dec. 25 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Dane O. Carver, 20, of Freeport, Mich.; specialist, Army National Guard. Carver was killed Monday when his Humvee was attacked with small-arms fire in Khalidiya, Iraq, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard in Saginaw, Mich.

Dominic R. Coles, 25, of Jesup, Ga.; sergeant, Army. Coles was killed Monday when his Humvee was attacked with small-arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades and mortars in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.

Aaron M. Forbes, 24, of Oak Island, N.C.; specialist, Army. Forbes was killed Wednesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Sergio Gudino, 22, of Pomona; specialist, Army. Gudino was killed Dec. 25 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his tank in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Jason D. Hasenauer, 21, of Hilton, N.Y.; private first class, Army. Hasenauer was killed Wednesday when his Humvee rolled over while on patrol near Kandahar in southern Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

William Lopez-Feliciano, 33, of Quebradillas, Puerto Rico; specialist, Army. Lopez-Feliciano was one of two soldiers killed Dec. 22 when an improvised explosive device detonated near them while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

George A. Lutz II, 25, of Virginia Beach, Va.; private first class, Army. Lutz was killed by a sniper Thursday when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire while on foot patrol in Fallouja, Iraq, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 9th Psychological Operations Battalion, 4th Psychological Operations Group, Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Myla L. Maravillosa, 24, of Wahiawa, Hawaii; sergeant, Army Reserve. Maravillosa died Dec. 24 in Kirkuk, Iraq, of injuries suffered that day when her Humvee was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades in Hawija, Iraq, north of Baghdad. She was assigned to the 203rd Military Intelligence Battalion, Army Reserve at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.

Tobias C. Meister, 30, of Jenks, Okla.; first sergeant, Army Reserve. Meister was killed Wednesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee while on patrol south of Asadabad in eastern Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 321st Civil Affairs Brigade, Army Reserve in San Antonio.

Joshua M. Morberg, 20, of Sparks, Nev.; private, Army. Morberg was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near them while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Regina C. Reali, 25, of Fresno; sergeant, Army Reserve. Reali was one of two soldiers killed Dec. 23 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their Humvee in Baghdad. She was assigned to the 351st Civil Affairs Command, Army Reserve in Mountain View, Calif.

Lance S. Sage, 26, of Hempstead, N.Y.; specialist, Army. Sage was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near them while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Richard M. Salter, 44, of Cypress, Texas; chief warrant officer, Army. Salter was one of two soldiers killed Monday when their Apache helicopter collided with another military aircraft in midair and crashed in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Isaias E. Santos, 28, of Ancon, Panama; chief warrant officer, Army. Santos was one of two soldiers killed Monday when their Apache helicopter collided with another military aircraft in midair and crashed in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Cheyenne C. Willey, 36, of Fremont, Calif.; specialist, Army Reserve. Willey was one of two soldiers killed Dec. 23 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 351st Civil Affairs Command, Army Reserve in Mountain View, Calif.
