At last Burbank gets its due -- well, half of it anyway

It was great finally seeing coverage of what I have found to be one of the most tranquil areas of the Valley [“In Burbank, There’s No Shortage of Horse Sense,” Dec. 18]. There aren’t too many other places you wake up to the sound of horses clopping merrily down to the trails that head up into the hills of Griffith Park, and all the neighbors know as well as help each other as if we were living in Mayberry.

However, your article covered only the half of it ... the eastern half. The Burbank West Rancho is a tiny island of a community flanked by Warner Bros. Studios, the L.A. River, Riverside Drive, the 134 freeway and a park. We have no through traffic due to these borders, making it incredibly peaceful. We can walk five minutes to work at Warners and NBC or continue on to Toluca Lake for dining at the fine restaurants on Riverside.

Currently, there is only one house in this neighborhood for sale, and it is listed at $1.5 million, sits on a 14,000-plus-square-foot lot, has a pool, stables and a turn out. We are more Toluca-adjacent than Toluca Woods, and perhaps the best kept secret in Burbank.
