Disappointed over score, not USC team

Re “History Scrambles Past Trojans,” Jan. 5

May I just say how proud I am of our Trojans? They conducted themselves like true gentlemen against a tough opponent, Texas. They played tough and they played clean -- and honored us on the field Wednesday night.

Our two Trojans (grandma, 1947, and daughter, 2007) led this family in cheering the Trojan football team through a nail-biting Rose Bowl game. This time the greatest team in college football happened to lose, leaving it 34-1 and the greatest team in college football. Our message to Pete Carroll and his players: Thousands of us in your global Trojan family shared your disappointment Wednesday night, but we were disappointed only in the final score, not in our amazing Trojans, who have given us so many moments of good-spirited victory over the last three years.

And to John David Booty and the 2006 Trojan team: Now you can make your own streak of victories. Fight on.
