2 Counts Dropped in Pension Board Case
A judge Friday dismissed two counts of conflict of interest against six former San Diego public employee pension board members but ordered them to stand trial on a third count.
The ruling by Superior Court Judge Frederic Link came after a monthlong preliminary hearing on charges filed by Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis in the wake of the city’s $2-billion pension deficit.
Three of the six former members also face federal charges for allegedly voting to boost their own pensions while also approving a risky investment scheme that led to the deficit.
