U.N. Staffers Ordered on Leave in Fraud Probe

The United Nations ordered eight staff members to take paid leave as part of its investigation of fraud and mismanagement in purchasing for peacekeeping operations.
One company, which was not named, was suspended from doing business with the world body, U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said. Dujarric said the leave was ordered as a result of a continuing internal audit and was “not at all a disciplinary action.”
Two U.N. officials said one of the eight was Assistant Secretary-General Andrew Toh.
