San Antonio guard Tony Parker showed the Memphis Grizzlies why he leads the NBA in points in the paint.

Parker scored 28 points on 12-for-13 shooting in the Spurs’ 93-83 victory over the Grizzlies on Monday night at Memphis, Tenn. Eleven of Parker’s field goals came on layups.

“If Tony can take what he did tonight and continue to improve, we’re obviously going to be a much better team than the way we’ve been playing,” Spur Coach Gregg Popovich said.

Manu Ginobili scored 15 points, and Tim Duncan had 13 points and 12 rebounds for his NBA-leading 30th double-double of the season.

Dallas 114, Milwaukee 95 -- Dirk Nowitzki made up for the poor shooting game he had last time the Mavericks played the Bucks, scoring 35 points at Dallas.

Nowitzki made only five of 22 shots and scored 18 points when the teams played Nov. 29, a road game Dallas lost, 113-111 in overtime.

Monday, Nowitzki was 14 for 21 in his fifth straight game with at least 26 points.

Minnesota 96, New York 90 -- Troy Hudson scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter, including a clinching three-pointer with 7.3 seconds left at New York.

Wally Szczerbiak and Kevin Garnett each scored 24 points for the Timberwolves, who seemed to be in control after building a 19-point lead in the third quarter. But the Knicks nearly rallied in the fourth, despite having to play much of the period without leading scorer Stephon Marbury. Marbury scored 20 points before leaving in the fourth when he collided with Szczerbiak while trying to fight through a pick.

Detroit 94, Boston 84 -- Rasheed Wallace scored 18 of his 23 points in the third quarter at Auburn Hills, Mich. The Pistons have won 15 of 17 and are an NBA-best 30-5.

David West had 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Hornets, who earned their 18th win, matching their victory total from last season. They also improved to 3-1 in two seasons against Charlotte, where they played from 1988 to 2002 before moving to New Orleans.

Atlanta 94, Houston 83 -- The Hawks took advantage of Tracy McGrady’s absence to beat the short-handed Rockets at Atlanta.

The Rockets suffered their sixth straight loss, including the last four without McGrady, who was with the team but couldn’t play as he continues to recover from back spasms.

Houston fell to 0-12 without McGrady this season.
