Haslett Is Hired as a Ram Assistant

Jim Haslett was hired Tuesday by the St. Louis Rams as defensive coordinator, and Greg Olson was hired as offensive coordinator.

Both will work under Scott Linehan, hired last week as coach.

Haslett was fired this month after having a 45-51 record in six seasons as coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Olson spent the last two seasons as an assistant with the Detroit Lions.

Dom Capers was hired by the Miami Dolphins as a special assistant to Coach Nick Saban.

Capers coached the Houston Texans for their first four seasons before being fired the day after they finished the 2005 season 2-14. He also coached the Carolina Panthers from 1995 to 1998.

Bill Kollar was hired by the Buffalo Bills as defensive line coach.

Kollar, a 17-year NFL assistant, spent the last five seasons as defensive line coach of the Rams.

Minnesota hired Fred Pagac as linebacker coach and Joe Woods as secondary coach.

Pagac coached linebackers at Kansas City last season. Woods was a Tampa Bay assistant the last two seasons.

Atlanta hired Bill Musgrave to tutor quarterbacks.

Musgrave spent 2005 as quarterback coach at Washington. He replaces Mike Johnson, who was fired by Coach Jim Mora on Jan. 4.

Former Buffalo tight end Jay Riemersma, who hadn’t played since tearing his right Achilles’ tendon more than a year ago, is retiring, his agent said.

Riemersma, 32, caught 221 passes for 2,524 yards and scored 23 touchdowns in 112 games.
