From Times Wire Reports

A lawmaker accidentally discharged a handgun in his General Assembly office in Richmond. No one was hurt.

Delegate John S. Reid apologized to his colleagues on the floor of the House of Delegates, saying, “Everyone has a right to feel safe here.” Reid said he had a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon and regularly brought his gun to the legislative session, usually with the bullets separate in his pocket. He was ejecting the bullet cartridge when the gun went off, he said.
