A dread giveaway

THERE are few things better to do on a Sunday morning than to curl up in bed with the Sunday Times, particularly the Calendar section. You can therefore imagine my disappointment and disgust at the cavalier method Times staff writer Geoff Boucher uses to expose major plot elements of Bryan Singer’s film “The Usual Suspects” just to illustrate a bit of trivial homage to that film in the upcoming “Superman Returns.” The reference was unnecessary and gratuitous.

It is a shame that an otherwise in-depth look at the upcoming “Superman Returns” film had to be ruined by spoiling another great cinematic thriller for those who have yet to see it.
