From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The City Council on Wednesday approved the construction of a large home next to the historic Wolford House in Mount Washington, rejecting an appeal by neighborhood activists who argued that a detailed environmental study was required to determine any potential negative effects.

The city’s Cultural Heritage Commission had approved a developer’s plans to build a two-story, 3,500-square-foot home on the same lot as the historic structure, but in a way that would preserve the older residence.
