VNU Agrees to Buy Radio & Records

VNU, owner of the Nielsen ratings service, agreed to buy Century City-based Radio & Records Inc., adding to its broadcasting and recording industry research businesses.
Radio & Records’ operations would be integrated with those of VNU’s Billboard Music Group, Haarlem, Netherlands-based VNU said. Terms of the deal, expected to close by Aug. 1, weren’t disclosed.
VNU’s U.S. holdings also include Billboard magazine and the Hollywood Reporter newspaper.
