U.S. 50 a truly novel roadway

THANKS for your article and pictures on U.S. 50 [“400 Miles of Blissful Nothingness,” Drives, July 16]. I’ve done it several times by myself and with my wife.

Did you see the “shoe tree,” where everyone has thrown their old shoes? I also love the messages spelled out with stones on the roadside. Very cool.
