An agreement reached by Texas officials and two major airlines to eventually lift flight restrictions at Dallas Love Field airport would violate federal antitrust laws and should not be approved, the U.S. Justice Department said in a memo.

The Justice Department’s concerns refer to a pact, partly forged by Southwest Airlines Co. and American Airlines parent AMR Corp., to eventually repeal a ban on flights by aircraft with more than 56 seats between Love Field and any locations outside Texas and eight nearby states.
