Teacher Accused of Sex With Student
An English teacher at Arroyo High School has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 17-year-old male student.
Authorities said Thursday that the teacher, Monica Rae Gonzalez, 35, of Hacienda Heights, was arrested last week at the El Monte school by officers from the San Gabriel Police Department.
Gonzalez, who authorities said is married and has taught at the school eight years, was charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child and two counts of child annoyance, all misdemeanors.
Sgt. Ken Butler said Gonzalez was arrested after a five-week investigation. She is free on bail and has been placed on leave.
