United Adds Asia Flights in Revamping Schedule

United Airlines said it was adding 40 weekly flights to Asia and discontinuing flights from New York to London and Tokyo as part of a shift of resources toward more profitable routes.
The nation’s second-largest carrier said more cargo capacity also would be added to its schedule in the next nine months.
United, a unit of UAL Corp., said the moves would solidify its position as the world’s biggest transpacific passenger carrier and make better use of its hub airports.
Shares of UAL rose 51 cents to $27.50.
