From Times Staff Reports
The City Council on Friday approved spending $850,000 to clear tree limbs that snapped during the recent heat wave.
Limbs typically droop in the summer, but the extremely high temperatures over the last two weeks caused many to fall in the streets, particularly in the San Fernando Valley, the hottest part of the city.
The city’s Bureau of Street Services has received 50% more calls than it usually gets at this time of year, the council was told.
