Lost In The Fog Runs Today

A winner of the first 10 starts of his career, Lost In The Fog will be seeking to end a two-race losing streak in the $150,000 Aristides Breeders’ Cup Handicap today at Churchill Downs.

This will be the first appearance in Louisville for the 4-year-old Lost Soldier colt, who won the Eclipse Award as the nation’s top sprinter in 2005 despite his failure in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint in October at Belmont Park.

However, Lost In The Fog has shown he can adapt to new surfaces. The Florida-bred has won at eight tracks -- Golden Gate Fields, Turf Paradise, Aqueduct, Belmont, Gulfstream Park, Calder, Bay Meadows and Saratoga -- for owner Harry Aleo and trainer Greg Gilchrist.

Russell Baze, who has been on the $48,000 yearling purchase in all but one of his races, has the call again today in the Aristides, a Grade III at six furlongs. Lost In The Fog is the even-money favorite on the morning line.

Race of the day: Costume Designer, who has won all three of her starts on the Hollywood Park turf course, will face six other fillies and mares in the $65,000 Great Lady M. Handicap today.

One for the road: Lacey Meeting should improve with the trainer change to Steve Specht and can win in her second career start in the ninth race today at Bay Meadows. Frank Alvarado will be aboard the 3-year-old Lacey Evitan filly for Para Dice Acres in the $20,000 maiden claimer at six furlongs.

Exotically speaking: An early pick four using Double Parked and Philly Bulldog in the first; Zappa in the second; Star Parade and Proposed in the third; and all in the fourth.

Winners (through Thursday): (previous day/meet total): 3/73. Money: (previous day/meet total): $12.20/$466.60. Total money bet: $504.
