Crews Have Wildfire About 75% Contained
More humidity and less wind Sunday helped crews gain on a wildfire burning in a remote mountain area east of Big Bear Lake.
The U.S. Forest Service reported that the fire had charred about 250 acres of chaparral and trees. About 560 firefighters, aided by aircraft, had the blaze 75% contained.
Winds were blowing it away from towns east of Baldwin Lake and no injuries or property damage had been reported, said Forest Service spokeswoman Pam Bierce. However, flames forced the closure of a dirt road and portions of the Pacific Crest Trail in San Bernardino National Forest.
The blaze was reported Friday afternoon. The cause is under investigation.
