She’s Made the Most of Her Own Space

It is absurd that of the “small” homes featured in “Why Size Doesn’t Matter” (by Barbara Thornburg, Home Design Issue, May 21), four out of five are more than 1,000 square feet--and one is 1,680 square feet. This isn’t small except by our gargantuan American standards.

I live in a small community in rural Los Angeles County. Our home is 600 square feet, and I live and work there. Dozens of communities such as this are in Southern California, where people are truly leaving a small footprint on planet Earth.
