From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Marine Commandant Gen. Michael Hagee spent Tuesday talking to troops here about the “core values” of honor, courage and commitment and the need to obey international laws of warfare that prohibit the killing of noncombatants.

Hagee scheduled the talk in reaction to recent incidents in which Marines from the base may have intentionally killed civilians in Iraq. Both incidents are under investigation.

Hagee has given similar talks to Marines in Iraq.
