Many rooms with a view

Times Staff Writer

When Angie Thornbury first saw this Doheny Hills-area house, it was run-down -- hardly touched in the more than 40 years since it was built. But Thornbury, an interior designer, saw potential.

From its location high above Sunset Strip, the house has views of Dodger Stadium, Long Beach, Malibu and Catalina Island. The house is also at the end of a cul-de-sac, hidden from the street.

Her company bought the house -- called “The View,” referring to perhaps its most appealing characteristic -- and transformed it through the installation of exotic hardwoods, glass, stone, stainless steel and fabrics.

To take advantage of the vistas, glass entry doors open to a soaring 23-foot-high living-room ceiling, and the doors on one side of the house slide into wall pockets. The penthouse master-bedroom suite has a deck.

Asking price: $5,995,000, not including furnishings.

Size: Four bedrooms and six bathrooms in 4,800 square feet.
