Clute Bests Oden by 89 Votes in Primary Race

Former Assemblyman Steve Clute defeated Palm Springs Mayor Ron Oden by fewer than 100 votes in the 80th Assembly District’s Democratic primary, according to final tallies by election officials.
Officials in Riverside and Imperial counties finished tabulating several thousand provisional, absentee and paper ballots this month, with Riverside announcing its final count Tuesday.
Clute, who bested Oden by 89 votes, will challenge Republican incumbent Bonnie Garcia for the seat in November.
