50 Tribesmen Freed in Goodwill Effort

Authorities have released 50 tribesmen in a gesture of goodwill in a volatile northern tribal region, a Pakistani official said.
Iqbal Khattak, a senior administrator of North Waziristan, said the men -- some of whom had been detained since February -- were freed after tribal elders sought their release. Security forces had rounded up the men after attacks on soldiers and police in the region, he said.
